On a normal day, in a normal month of his senior season, the 17-year-old would take the opportunity to hydrate, but with the Muslim holy month of fasting underway, he won’t have any food or drink until after sundown — at least two hours after the end of his practices.

 The South Asian Softball League or SASL a Muslim managed Softball league in Long Island had it's 6th annual finals on August 15th, 2009. The two teams that played in the finals were SWAT and X-Men. Both of these predominantly Muslim teams have been long time members of the SASL. X-Men had made a finals appearance once before and had lost. While SWAT and members of SWAT had made three trips to the finals before with no victories to show for their efforts. The night started out with Salim Ejaz a 2009 Candidate for the NYC Comptroller's office (www.salejaz.com) throwing out the first pitch before the finals.

More than 200 sporting events held at first Islamic Games Midwest By Ahmed Mohamed, Staff Writer, www.America.gov
Washington — The first Islamic Games Midwest (www.islamic-games.com), held in Ypsilanti, Michigan, July 25–26, were part of the largest Muslim-American sports and athletic event in the United States — the Islamic Games.
The American Midwest is home to more than 2 million Muslims, many involved in sports and other facets of the community in which they live. The games, however, are open to all athletes from the region, whether Muslim or not, because “it is critically important that Muslims see themselves as Americans … and that other Americans see Muslims as Americans too, and to promote sports and athletics to the Muslim communities and to highlight athletes, [both] Muslims and non-Muslims,” said Salaudeen Nausrudeen, national chairman of the overall Islamic Games.
